Mia's baby pictures from the hospital are posted to the "offical" hospital picture website. If you care to take a gander, Click here.

July 12, 2008 - 5:00PM

We are home! Chantal was doing so well with her recovery that her doctor released her (technically) this morning. Mia had to stay in the hospital for a minimum of 24 hours observation and then had to undergo an examination by a physician, but once she cleared these two "hurdles" she was signed out. So, at about 5:00pm Mia enjoyed her initial homecoming! We were greeting by our next-next door neighbor Carrie Driskill, her daughter and her mother, so there was a bit of a celebration upon our arrival. Now, of course, we engage the realities of being back in the infant stage and we are ready for the lack of sleep :). I do not have pics here yet. In part I have not had time. Also, Mia experienced some facial bruising during delivery, so we are waiting a couple of days for it to clear so that you can all get a "real" good look at her. We have been blessed by God with the gift of this little girl, and we continue to be blessed by your friendship. Thank you for continuing to keep up with this ongoing journey!

July 11, 2008 - 12:59PM

Our little girl is finally here. Chantal and I showed up for our 7:30am appointment at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and they ushered Chantal in for "prepping" and I sat in baggage claim waiting to be called into the room. At 9:05am the nurse started Chantal on Pytocin and things remained generally the same until about 11:30am. At that time Chantal experienced very strong contractions and it was soon evident Baby Flynn would be here shortly. By 12:45pm, Chantal was climbing onto the bed to have her water broken and offer three, final pushes to bring Baby Flynn into the world! Our little girl's name is Mia Joy Flynn. Mia is a name that both of us have always loved, and it was the name for our first baby had it been a girl and not a Logan. Chantal is recovering very well and the baby is also thriving. I anticipate Mommy and Mia will come home tomorrow afternoon, but we will see. Thank you for joining us in prayer throughout this journey. I look forward to you having an opportunity to meet our little girl in person soon! Oh, and Logan is ecstatic about his baby sister. He wants to "hold her," which is something he will be able to do in very controlled environments at home.

July 10, 2008 - 9:11am

I apologize that we did not post an update here yesterday. Baby Flynn is still not here yet, but we had a good visit with our doctor yesterday morning. Chantal was on the fetal monitor and Baby Flynn moved around quite a bit, which was what we wanted to happen. Her heart rate varied perfectly relative to her movements and to the contractions that Chantal experienced. This performance quelled our doctor's concerns, so she sent us back home. So, we are still waiting. We have an induction appointment scheduled for Friday morning at 7:30am, so if Baby Flynn does not make an appearance on her own some time today or tonight, she will be "evicted" tomorrow morning. Chantal is comfortable with this plan, although she does hope Baby Flynn comes on her own before tomorrow morning. On an additional note, if you try to call Chantal's cell phone you will not reach her because she accidentally ran her cell phone through the washer yesterday. So, if you call, call the house number or my cell phone, neither of which we can post here lest we get inundated with phone calls from people who find our number on the Internet. I will post more as the day goes on.

July 8, 2008 - 11:18pm

Tuesday's come and gone and "we're still pregnant," as Chantal tells everyone who calls. We did, however, visit with our doctor today and came away with an "end of term" plan. Chantal remains at 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced. Logan was 5 days late, so the doctor is not concerned that we are into our fifth day overdue. Since Chantal is overdue, however, the doctor wanted to put her on the fetal monitor for a while to take a reading of her contractions and the baby's heart rate under different conditions. The baby was likely resting, holding steady at about 132bpm for the duration of the test. So we are going to visit the doctor again in the morning first thing since Chantal reported that the baby is often active in the morning after breakfast. If the baby is active and her heart rate varies properly with motion and contractions, then we will likely hold out for Chantal to go into labor on her own in the next few days. However, if the baby's heart rate remains the same during tomorrow morning's test, then the doctor will send us over the hospital and they will induce Chantal's labor right away. So, it appears we are at least at a major turning point in this journey and we will let everyone know as things progress. If we "do not pass go" and head straight for the hospital, all updates will be found on my Twitter page. Otherwise, I'll update this information. Thank you for continuing to check in and follow Chantal and the Baby's progress. She will be here very soon!

July 7, 2008 - 8:55pm

Happy Monday! Carl went to work today and Chantal went about her regular summer Monday schedule with Logan, Papa Chuck, and Grandma Joan. Baby Flynn was rocking and rolling throughout the day and seems content to be where she is. We have our last weekly appointment with our OB tomorrow and will know more about how Chantal is progressing. I will definitely update everyone after tomorrow afternoon's appointment and, who knows, maybe we will still miss it :).

July 6, 2008 - 6:40pm

We realized that we had not posted any updates today. As Chantal would say, "I'm still pregnant." We are now 3 days beyond the due date for Baby Flynn, but our OB will let us go as far as the 11th. So, we're still waiting and will keep updating you on Baby's progress. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

July 5, 2008 - 9:45pm

We just returned from dinner and are still awaiting the arrival of Baby Flynn. Chantal felt "something a little different" during dinner tonight, so we'll see if this was a result of dinner or possible a step forward to something more. Continue to check here for updates, but I can update my Twitter page via phone, so when things really get going I will be updating that resource more than this one. Continue to keep us in your prayers.

July 5, 2008 - 12:05am

Well, Independence Day has drawn to a close and after a good fireworks demonstration here in Waco we are back home and still await the arrival of our little girl. She rocked and rolled through the fireworks and a visit with my mother and step-father, but she still seems content to be where she is for now. Our OB will let us go as late as Friday, July 11, so we are not concerned; however, we remain eager. Check back here for updates, or you can follow Carl on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/carlflynn/) and he will also announce updates there as well.

July 4, 2008 - 9:20am

Happy Independence Day! We're off to our usual morning start with no change with Chantal. Carl is off today, which should be no surprise, so Chantal is glad that he is here rather than 15 minutes away from the house. Carl's mom and stepdad will arrive this afternoon from California, and will be here for the week, so hopefully Baby Flynn will make her appearance while they are here. Check back here for updates, or you can follow Carl on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com) and he will also announce updates there.

July 3, 2008 - 1:19pm

Still no Baby Flynn as of lunch time today. Our due date is tomorrow, so maybe we will have an Independence Day baby. Maybe we should name her Liberty? :).

July 1, 2008 - 11:00pm

Well, it seems that Chantal's labor process may have begun its early stages. She lost her mucous plug tonight and, if Logan's birth is any indication, he was born about 36 hours or so after Chantal lost her mucous plug. So, we are increasing the "labor alert" to stage red and will be watching very, very closely for signs of full onset of labor. However, we know that they will not start immediately and it may still be a couple of days. But, we are inching closer!

July 1, 2008

Happy July! Currently, Chantal's answer to the question, "How are you?" is: "Still pregnant!" Our due date is less than 4 days away and we continue to anticipate the arrival of Baby Flynn 2. Our doctor visit went well this morning. Chantal remains 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced. Baby Flynn has a great heartbeat (140bpm) and Mommy also appears to be in great health. Our new arrival could come at any moment now, so we are waiting eagerly and expectantly to meet her face to face. We will post updates here as we have them!

June 24, 2008

Our doctor has returned from vacation and Baby Flynn is still cookin' -- Praise the Lord! Good heartbeat and good progress...Chantal is now 70% effaced and dilated to a 3! Dr. Sawyer says that the baby could come at any time now. All of our bags are packed (Logan's, Baby's, and Mommy's), Logan's "Childcare Availability" spreadsheet (detailing who is available to take care of Logan when Chantal goes into labor) is prepped and ready, all of Baby's necessities are ready for her arrival...now all we need is our new Baby Flynn! We'll see if we make our next appointment, which is scheduled for next week.

June 17, 2008

We had our appointment today and saw Dr. Sawyer's wonderful nurse, Linda, since Dr. Sawyer is currently on vacation. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat again and it's as good as ever! We are hoping that Baby Flynn waits until Dr. Sawyer returns to make her entrance into the world. Stay tuned...

June 12, 2008

We had our latest appointment today. Everything is pretty much the same as our last report. The baby has a good, strong heartbeat. Chantal remains 50% effaced, so there has been no change as we move toward our due date. Chantal's doctor is on vacation through next week, so we asked Baby Flynn to wait until after the 22nd to arrive. We'll see how it goes!

June 9, 2008

At long last, the website is launched. When we anticipated Logan's arrival, Daddy apparently had more time on his hands to pull together pictures and information as "the day" approached. But here it is! Check out the video and mark your calendars for our due date: July 4, 2008! We are thankful to God to be blessed with a new Baby Flynn, who we look forward to seeing face-to-face! Check back for more regular updates now that everything is in place!

June 6, 2008

We had our doctor appointment today. After this visit we will see our physician every week. The baby has a good heartbeat. Chantal is 50% effaced and the baby's head is down. So, she's in a good position to get ready to launch. More soon.
